Team Nigeria Project, Group Lead by MC Oluomo, Others Set for Unveiling

Plans are being concluded for the official launching of Team Nigeria Project (TNP), a socio-political organization that aims to bolster citizens’ participation in governance across the country.

TNP, leading by a prominent mobilizer, the President of The National Union of Road Transport Workers, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo and other notable youth leaders, will be formally unveiled next month in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The Director General, Mr. Olamilekan Taiwo Pedro while addressing newsmen in Lagos on Wednesday said TNP is poised to mobilizing support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027, saying the massive economic and infrastructural transformation the nation has witnessed under him should be continued beyond 2027.

“Under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, the country has since 2023 witnessed an economic turnaround as a result of tough but necessary decisions, including the removal of fuel subsidy. Today, our IGR is on a steady increase while the states receive more allocations from the FG to embark on developmental projects.

“The local currency Naira has been stabilized, local refineries working, our people receiving adequate supplies and small & medium scale enterprises thriving as a result of improved infrastructure, particularly power and roads.

“The massive investment in agriculture has brought about food security as the country no longer relies on imports to feed our population. The federal highways across the country are beautiful to behold. Insecurity has been largely degraded, and our citizens sleep with their eyes closed. TNP believes strongly that a government that has done so much for the country can only be rewarded with a re-election, “he said.

Also said several Directorates have been put in place to mobilize Nigerians in their large numbers, both women and youths, to support the election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

According to him, top officials of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) will grace the formal launching of the group next month in Abuja.

5 PDP Governors Ready To Join APC, Unsure Of Success Of Coalition – Saraki

0

The former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki has disclosed that the current political coalition by some former governors against President Bola Tinubu may not work, even as he disclosed that five of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP are already on their way to joining ruling party, APC.

During a recent visit to Ilorin for the Nikkah ceremony of the Mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Suleiman Faruk Onikijipa, Saraki reportedly met with a select group of loyalists at his Broadway residence. At the private gathering, the former governor is said to have shared his assessment of the political landscape.

A senior insider at the meeting told Daily Trust that Saraki categorically ruled out any plan to return to the APC, blaming such rumours on certain APC actors attempting to sow confusion.

“We discussed it during the meeting and he debunked it,” the source said.

Regarding the ongoing merger talks among opposition figures, the source disclosed that Saraki is sceptical about the feasibility of registering a new party or getting the best out of any of the already registered ones before the 2027 polls.

“He believes Tinubu, being a smart politician, won’t allow INEC to register any new political party. Besides, many governors from both APC and PDP have pledged loyalty to the president in hopes of securing their political futures,” he added.

The implication, he explained, is that opposition governors are unlikely to fund any new coalition, hence Saraki’s reluctance to publicly align with the movement.

“Saraki unsure of success of coalition in 2027, to adopt Wike’s pattern of remaining in PDP and collaborating with ruling government to remain relevant at the centre.

“Many governors from both APC and PDP have pledged loyalty to the president in hopes of securing their political futures. The implication, is that opposition governors are unlikely to fund any new coalition, hence my reluctance to publicly align with the movement.

“With what is on ground, the possibility of me (Saraki) joining the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is nil. No current APC governors is ready to defect to the PDP or SDP, infact, I can count about 5 PDP governors who are almost with the APC. The remaining 7 PDP governors are not willing to fund the party.

Twenty-one governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have met with former President Muhammadu Buhari in Kaduna and begged him not to dump President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party that made him president ahead of the 2027 elections.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the APC governors met former President Buhari in his newly remodelled Kaduna residence in a closed-door meeting where they begged him not to support the opposition coalition championed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former governors Nasir El-Rufai and Peter Obi, among others.

One of the sources told our correspondent: “The meeting of APC governors was basically to plead and beg former President Muhammadu Buhari to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. You know the opposition coalition is gathering momentum, and many former President Buhari’s allies are heading to the coalition to challenge Tinubu’s second-term ambition.”

Recall that former Kaduna state governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, one of Buhari’s closest allies, had revealed that he got the blessing and prayers of ex-President Buhari before his defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to Social Democratic Party, SDP.

However, speaking with journalists after the meeting, Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma described Buhari as a father in politics.

“We came to pay former President Muhammadu Buhari a courtesy visit. You know former President Muhammadu Buhari is the only former president produced by the APC.

“We came and saw him in good health. We fraternised with him, stayed with him and are ready to return to our various businesses.

“We met with him, and he was pleased with our party. He expressed surprise at our visit. We are happy and thankful to Almighty God because we met him in good health. He is our father in politics. He is well pleased with our party and all of us, his children. He is well pleased with our visit.”

Describing the APC as the biggest party in Africa, he said its members would continue to work hard to make it stronger.

For his part, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani commended former President Muhammadu Buhari for supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC.

“We are here along with other APC governors to visit former President Muhammadu Buhari. We are happy the way former President Buhari is supporting our party and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Sani said.

The APC governors were said to have pleaded with former President Muhammadu Buhari not to allow the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) elements within the APC to leave the party and join the coalition movement.

A source told LEADERSHIP that the governors, at their meeting with Buhari, appealed to him not to abandon President Tinubu.

They recalled how Tinubu supported Buhari for the eight years.

It was further learnt that the governors resolved to facilitate a meeting between the CPC elements and President Tinubu to assuage their concerns.

LEADERSHIP recalls that former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai revealed that he cleared with Buhari before he joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), but Buhari has since dismissed insinuations that he would dump the APC for the SDP.
