Nigerian Women in Diaspora hails Minister of Women Affairs Barr. Uju Ohanenye on call for EU Accountability

The Nigerian Women in Diaspora and Civic Society Group has hailed the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Barr. Uju Ohanenye on her call for the European Union to provide a proper account of their activities.

The Civil Society made the remark at a press statement of appreciation and solidarity held in Washington DC, United States of America on Saturday, October 21, 2023.

Reacting to the press Statement made by the Women Affairs Minister Bar. Uju Ohanenye, the president of the Society of Nigerian Women in Diaspora USA, Mrs Ifeoluwa stated that the association is proudly standing together to express their heartfelt appreciation and unwavering solidarity to the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs for her recent call for the European Union (EU) to provide a proper account of their actions, and commended the Hon. Minister courageous stance in demanding transparency and accountability from international partners.

The association expressed that Hon. Minister’s call for the EU to provide a proper account aligns closely with their shared values of good governance, responsible budgeting, and the need for international partners to act in the best interests of Nigerian citizens.

“We firmly believe that all development cooperation should be underpinned by accountability and a commitment to the welfare and progress of the Nigerian people. The Honourable Minister’s resolute demand for the EU’s proper account demonstrates her unwavering loyalty to Nigerians and her tireless efforts to safeguard their interests.

“We also applaud the Honourable Minister for promoting dialogue and constructive engagement with international partners. Her call for the EU to provide a proper account is a demonstration of her commitment to a mutually beneficial relationship that respects national sovereignty and promotes equitable development.

“As members of the Nigerians in Diaspora and Civic Society Group, we pledge our unwavering support to the Honourable Minister’s call for the EU to be transparent and accountable in its actions. We believe that by holding international partners accountable, we can foster a more balanced relationship and ensure that development assistance genuinely benefits Nigerian citizens, particularly women, who are affected by numerous challenges.

“We extend our gratitude to the Honourable Minister for her determination and tenacity in advocating for transparency and proper accounting practices in international partnerships.
