‎Donbai FA have emerged champions of the Bayelsa Starlets Academy U-15 Scouting Tournament after two weeks of pulsating action among the young lads.
‎
‎The tournament which was put together by the organisers of the Prosperity Cup in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports Development and the Bayelsa State Grassroots Coaches Association, was aimed at discovering talents that would be integrated into the Bayelsa Starlets Academy, which is affiliated to the FC Barcelona Academy.
‎
‎Donbai FA put up a brave show to beat FC Afini 2-0 to lift the trophy.
‎
‎In the third place match Kings Warriors FA of Igbedi overpowered Dominion City 5-4 on penalties after a barren draw in regulation time, to smile home with the third place prize.
‎
‎Speaking at the final, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports Development, Mr. Pereyi Efeke said beyond the prize money, the exercise was aimed at discovering future stars, urging kids to combine football with education as an alternative to their respective careers.

‎Also, All Progressive Congress, APC Standard bearer in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly in Ogbia Constituency 1, Chief Ebiango Egain, lauded the organizers of the tournament for investing in the youths, pointing out that apart from being a means of livelihood, sports remains a veritable vehicle for youth empowerment.

‎Deputy Director General of the Prosperity Cup, Mr Perela Aboro, noted that the essence of the tournament was to discover players that would feature in the Bayelsa Starlets U-15 academy.
‎
‎Victorious coach of Donbai FA, Emmanuel Donbai in an interview, said the triumph has opened a new chapter for the team and appreciated the organizers of the tournament for the life-changing initiative, which he described as “laudable.”
‎
‎FC Afini coach, Anthony Fouye attributed the defeat to his team’s wasteful efforts in front of goal, maintaining that his side gave a good account of themselves despite the loss.
‎
‎Champions, Donbai FA went home with the sum of ₦400,000, runners-up FC Afini smiled to the bank with a sum of ₦300,000, third place King Warriors FA got ₦300,000 while 4th position, Dominion City received ₦100,000 for their effort.
