Organizers of the Prestigious Africa Youth Cup International Football Tournament in Cape Verde, Serahanasports have given kudos to His Excellency, Gov Douye Diri for the tremendous progress and achievements in the sporting sector in the last three and a half years.
“As Bayelsans (promoters of Serahanasports) , we celebrate His Excellency for his support in youth development programs through the Prosperity Cup initiative, especially, the aspect that has to do with offshore exposure for exceptional talents discovered during the tournament.
“This life changing component of the Prosperity Cup is the uniqueness of the tournament.
His Excellency’s administration has built strong reputation for the development of Bayelsa youths through sports and we are in no doubt that youth development and programs of this nature are at the heart of His Excellency’s administration’s agenda to engage the youth more productively and further develop the much-needed human capital base of the State as evident in the Prosperity Cup competition.
“His Excellency, the deputy governor, sports commissioner and the Director General of the tournament, Mr. Ono Akpe deserve commendation for another successful and more improved edition of the tournament and also, for bringing to life, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri’s youth empowerment program through the Prosperity Cup competition.
A lot has been achieved with the Prosperity Cup grassroots competition, initially known as the Restoration Cup. Several players from this competition now play in different clubs at home and abroad. Recall the sterling performance of Bayelsa Restoration Starlets at the maiden edition of Africa Youth Cup in Cape Verde.
It is interesting to note that Ikporo Kennedy, a player from the Starlets team is now with Red Star Belgrade in Serbia. Participating in the Africa Youth Cup helped my confidence and level of determination, being around also, with Benfica in Cape Verde helped my mentality, Ikporo said.
Africa Youth Cup is a tournament of opportunities!
The organisers of the Africa Youth Cup said it is in the light of the above that they were officially inviting the Bayelsa State Prosperity contingent to participate in the October Second Edition of Africa Youth Cup – Cape Verde 2023.

The maiden edition of Africa Youth Cup was hosted by the Republic of Cape Verde in April 2019 and was adjudged by stakeholders as a huge success which indeed amplifies the reality that it is now time for the world to come to Africa for a major International Youth Football Festival, which the Africa Youth Cup symbolises.
The Cape Verde 2023 tournament is the second edition in the series, aimed at promoting football academies in Africa and transform them into global brands.
Africa Youth Cup is unlocking new opportunities for football academies whose players are able to showcase their skills before African and European elite scouts for further soccer career opportunities.
