The Convener of the Tinubu Hope of Nigeria Vanguard, Barr. Olurotimi Williams has congratulated the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and described his victory as historic and a plus for democracy.
While saluting all members of the Tinubu Hope Vanguard for their gallant sacrifice, Mr. Williams said Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s administration will usher in new hope and prosperity for all Nigerians.
He said “We were in the trenches together. We fought a good fight. We committed our resources to a cause we genuinely believe in. When other support groups were seeking funding, we contributed our widow’s mite in pursuit of the election of BAT. Congratulations once again.
“No doubt, a lot happened in the course of electioneering. There were friendly and hostile fires from all sides. It was evidently clear that many times we evoked and played up primordial sentiments and our fault lines. It was a tough and sometimes, ugly fight with religion and ethnicity brought to the brought burner.
“Asiwaju has started very well. His speeches have been conciliatory. Indeed, our Asiwaju has been presidential. The cure to all the ills, divisions, agitations and what have you is good governance that generates confidence in Nigerians across the landscape. Many of these agitations are well-founded and should be addressed. Asiwaju’s task is well cut out for him. Honestly, I do not pity him.
“His priority task is to be fair, equitable and just to all starting with the distribution of appointments. Give every section a fair deal and let the impact of good governance be immediately felt. The progressive development of our country should be anchored on the vitality, resourcefulness and dynamism of the country’s youth.
“On our part as supporters of Asiwaju, let us follow the example of the President-elect. Let us tone down and allow time for healing. Those who lost out are bitter and aggrieved. This is normal and expected. It is not time for us to gloat! Asiwaju is demonstrating how to be gracious in victory. Our focus now is to build and make Nigeria a land of peace, prosperity, Justice and sustainable development.
“Those who deepened our divisions should exercise restraint and consider the fact that many Nigerians do not have a plan B.
“God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
