With barely two days after the Osun APC through the Chief press secretary to Governor Oyetola, Mr. Ismail Omipidan, claims that Yaiaga Africa Election Result Analysis Dashboard (ERAD) report in Osun state polls declared Gboyega Oyetola winner vindicated their position on the outcome of the July 16 Osun election. The non-profit organization on Friday distance self from such publications, termed as fabricated, misleading and such conclusions did not emanate from them.
Recall that Mr. Omipidan in his post claimed Yiaga Africa’s result analysis report revealed that there was overvoting in 12 local government areas of the state during the poll and other forms of inconsistencies that were spotted during their observation of the elections. Yiaga Africa in its statement revealed that their report did not indicate Oyetola’s victory, rather it only reeled out some of the shortcomings of INEC in uploading results. While the organization rejected Mr. Omipidan report, they said it did not in anyway question the outcome of the election that produced Senator Ademola Adeleke.
In a statement made known to newsmen and the general public, Yiaga Africa frown at such conclusions by Osun APC and indeed rejected the claims by Mr. Omipidan that APC won osun gubernatorial election.
It reads:
“We outrightly reject this assertion and categorically state that the ERAD report did not in any way suggest the winner or loser of the recently concluded June/July, Ekiti and Osun Governorship elections. Instead, the ERAD report highlighted certain shortcomings with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) upload of results to the INCE Results Viewing (REV) Portal and recommendations for improving the process ahead of the 2023 elections.”
The Organization enjoins Osun APC to be very watchful and circumspect about the kind of information they are giving out, and share, especially in this period when purveyors of fake news abound.
They also advised the public particularly the Osun state people to disregard the report as coming from depraved minds and enemies of the people.
