Bayelsa United Chairman Singabele Backs Team For NPFL Return

The Chairman of the Bayelsa United Board, Dr. Peter Singabele, has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in the forthcoming Nigeria National League (NNL) season, scheduled to kick off on November 8, 2026.
Dr. Singabele gave the assurance on Friday shortly after the team’s training session at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, where the Prosperity Boys intensified preparations for the 2026/2027 campaign.
He said he was impressed with the quality of players assembled by the technical crew, noting that the team has the talent, determination and collective strength needed to compete strongly.
The Chairman commended the technical crew for conducting a thorough screening exercise and trimming the squad to the required size for the demanding season, adding that the selection process was carefully handled to ensure adequate preparation.
According to him, the board’s immediate priority is to ensure Bayelsa United returns to the elite division, stressing that the club must approach every game with discipline, determination and a winning mentality.
“We are satisfied with the quality of players the technical crew has assembled, and we believe we have a team capable of competing strongly in the NNL. Our target is clear: Bayelsa United must fight for promotion and return to where the club rightfully belongs. We are not taking anything for granted, and everyone must be ready to give his best,” Dr. Singabele said.
He clarified that players who did not make the current squad should not see themselves as completely out of the club’s plans, urging them to remain committed, maintain a positive attitude and work in harmony towards the collective objective.
Describing football as a team sport, he emphasized that success would depend on unity, discipline and commitment.
“Football is a collective responsibility, and promotion cannot be achieved by individual brilliance alone. We need unity in the dressing room, discipline on the pitch and a strong sense of responsibility from everyone. The board will continue to pay attention to players’ welfare, but we also expect them to repay that commitment with hard work, dedication and results,” he added.
Dr. Singabele noted that the government and people of Bayelsa State are eager to see the team regain its place in the NPFL, adding that a successful campaign would bring pride to the state and reward the unwavering support of fans and stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa United will on Saturday embark on a one-week pre-season tour to Ozoro, Delta State, as part of efforts to improve fitness, sharpen tactical coordination and build match readiness ahead of the NNL kick-off.
The tour is expected to provide the technical crew an opportunity to assess the team’s progress and strengthen understanding among the players.
