The attention of the Grand President of Abuja Grand Commandery has been drawn to an Online Publication by an Online News blogger, Aluta News, where in an Open Letter of appeal for reinstatement of the activities of the Knights of St. John International by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria was circulated by one Professor Marcel Ezewonye of Gwarimpa Commandery, Abuja last Wednesday.
I wish to state that the said Prof. Ezewonye is not known to us and the views he expressed do not represent the thinking of the members of Abuja Grand Commandery or the Supreme Subordinate Commandery, Nigeria and we hereby dissociate ourselves from his views and the intentions of his sponsors who are bent on truncating the process of genuine reconciliation the Noble Order has been undertaking and is nearing completion.
We are pained that people who are not members of the order can be used to cause mischief and constitute a clog in the wheel of progress.
The Grand President of Abuja, Grand Commandery, Brig. Gen. Bona Ugwuja condemns in the strongest terms this uncharitable act, describing it as evil, mindless, destructive and unchristian and has asked all elements of Abuja Grand Commandery to discountenance the Online Publication as it does not have the imprimatur of any bona fide KSJI authority.
The visibly shocked Grand President emphasized that the hierarchy of the Knights of St. John International in Nigeria does not align with the writer’s call for the dissolution of any cadre of leadership in KSJI Nigeria noting that it is the same SSB Nigeria that is collaborating with the CBCN for the resolution of the imbroglio.
Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Lt. Col. AK Peters, Gen. Ugwuja called for calm and asked all brothers and sisters to intensify prayers for early resolution of the impasse.
He praised the Catholic Bishops for the fatherly disposition to the resolution of the issues in the order and reminded all genuine brothers and sisters of the ban on discussion of this matter which is before the CBCN.
The CBCN and indeed the the general public are enjoined to ignore such faceless postulations from mischief makers.
