Students of various federal universities across Nigeria residing in Kaduna, on Tuesday, called on the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off the over five months strike.

President of ASUU, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, on Tuesday had hinted that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is scheduled to meet with Federal Government representatives today, over its prolonged strike.

Some students of the universities, while speaking to DAILY POST in Kaduna, while expressing confidence that good news may come out of their meetings, further begged the ASUU to see reason to call off the strike in the interest of not only the students, but for all, including the lecturers

.

John Ademu, a 200 level student of Federal University, Lokoja said the school has lost three lecturers and four students since the strike started.

“We have lost three lecturers because since the federal government stopped their salaries, hardship, frustration sets in, leading to BP,” he said.

Aisha Umaru, a 300-level student of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, said she had been admitted more than six times since the strike because of frustration.

Moses Umar, a 500 level student of University of Abuja, said he hardly writes a single sentence without errors in spelling as he hardly remembers what he was thought while in school.

Rosemary Abdul, Bayero University Kano said she is contemplating getting married than continuing schooling because she doesn’t know when ASUU will call off the strike.

Peace Yusufu, a medical student of the University of Lagos, said she had spent 8 years studying medicine, adding that she is contemplating abandoning studies, as age is no longer on her side.
