Soldier Sentenced To Death For Killing Superior In Borno

 

Private Azunna Maduabuchi of the Nigerian Army has been sentenced to death for killing a superior officer in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State last year.

The military’s court-martial sitting in Maiduguri, the state capital sentenced Maduabuchi to death by firing squad during a ruling Tuesday.

The President of the court, Brig. General, Arikpo Ekubi, said the soldier was found guilty and convicted in accordance with Section 106 of the Armed Forces Act.

Mmaduabuchi, who was serving at 202 Battalion Bama, was found to have deliberately fired nine rounds of ammunition on Lieutenant Babankaka Ngorgi, who instantly died.

The court also convicted Private Mohammed Kuru, Sergeant Sani Ishaya and three others for manslaughter.

They were sentenced to one to four years imprisonment.
