Union Bank of Nigeria Director, Furera Jumare, has resigned to take up a government job, a statement seen by Equity News showed. Jumare resigned from Union Bank for a government appointment as she was appointed as Director General of the Jigawa State Investment Promotion Agency.
Before her resignation, she was an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Union Bank, where she was involved in the company’s policymaking and planning. Part of a Non-Executive Director’s job is to also monitor the company executive directors. Jumare will now offer her expertise to the government of Jigawa State.
While reacting to her resignation, Union Bank said, “We write to inform The Nigerian Stock Exchange and the investing public that Mrs. Furera Isma Jumare, an Independent Non-Executive Directoron the Board of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, has been appointed as the Director General of the Jigawa State Investment Promotion Agency.
“Consequently, and in line with Central Bank of Nigeria guidelines, she has resigned from the Board of Union Bank of Nigeria Plc with effect from 15th October 2020. The Bank has commenced the process of filling her seat and further communication will be made as soon as the Board confirms a replacement,” the statement seen by AllNews stated.
