BREAKING: Ekiti Assembly suspends council boss over Fayemi’s presidential campaign posters

In a bid to investigate the alleged unauthorised presidential campaign posters for Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, lawmakers at the state House of Assembly have suspended the Ikere Local Government Chairman, Femi Ayodele, for sponsoring the posters.

They explained that the suspension had become imperative to allow for thorough investigations into the unauthorised campaign posters and rationale behind it.

The lawmakers unanimous resolution to suspend the council boss followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the Assembly, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan and seconded by Mr Tajudeen Akingbolu, Ekiti West Constituency 1, APC.

Following  adoption of the motion entitled: “Calling for investigation into the alleged unsolicited and unauthorised campaign in the media in flagrant disregard to Extant Regulations by Chairman, Ikere Local Government Area, Mr. Femi Ayodele” the lawmakers also directed the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to commence thorough investigation into the matter.

The Speaker, Funminiyi Afuye, who presided over the plenary on Friday directed the ad-hoc committee to submit its report to the House within one week.

In his contribution, the lawmaker representing Ikole Constituency 2, Steven Aribasoye, said that the council boss action was against provisions of the Electoral Act, 2010 as amended.
