Nasarawa: Civil Servants Commence Training On ICT Capacity Building

Nasarawa state government has launched an ICT capacity building training exercise on e-government on its civil servants from various ministries and MDAs.

The state governor, Abdullahi Sule who disclosed this during the opening of the first phase of training in Lafia recently restated the commitment of his administration to ensure the digitalization process of government activities.

Representing the governor at the occasion was the state’s head of service, Nicholas Aboki who said that the data processing training was executed to improve the quality of service delivery to the citizens and ensure transparency in government activities.

The governor’s representative noted that the aim of the training was to sensitize and show the direction to the civil servants on the role of e-government in reducing corruption and the cost of government activities as well as the economic development of the state.

On his part, the Director-General, Bureau for Information and Communication Technology, Alhaji Shehu Ibrahim said the first phase of the exercise has 228 data processing officers undergoing training.

He said they are using the training to equip those in the ICT sector of Nasarawa state to give them the needed digital skills to enable them to communicate, share and organize information digitally in line with modern practice.

In his words, “with the high level of commitment his excellency, Engr Abdullahi Sule is putting towards ensuring Nasarawa state becomes one of the topmost competitive economic, ICT is to be the backbone of the state, through training and retraining and development of programs, applications, and value-adding projects.”

Ibrahim pointed out that the Bureau of ICT is aimed towards strengthening the operations of the civil service and improving service delivery by identifying huge capacity gaps in critical areas of ICT and government work.
