Organisers Of Prosperity Cup Reel Out Activities For FC Barcelona Officials’ Visit

‎Organizers of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football spectacle, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, tagged the Prosperity Cup, have confirmed the date of arrival of officials of FC Barcelona, who will be in Yenagoa as part of activities to mark the 30th anniversary celebration of the State.

‎This was contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Director General of the tournament, Mr. Perela Aboro who doubles as Chairman Organizing Committee for the visit ahead of the visit which coincides with the anniversary of the State.

‎In the statement, Mr Aboro noted that the visit, which is in fulfilment of the dictates of the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, signed between the Bayelsa State Government and officials of the Spanish football giants, FC Barcelona, will also afford the visitors the opportunity to fine-tune the formal take-off of the Bayelsa Starlets Academy Under-15 team.

‎While noting that the Bayelsa Starlets U-19 team emerged as champions of the Nationwide League One, held in Yenagoa last month, the Deputy Director General said the officials of FC Barcelona will be in Bayelsa to assess the state of facilities on ground; the fitness and level of progress made by the players as well as how much the lads have imbibed the FC Barcelona philosophy.

‎The statement also said the Bayelsa Starlets Academy U-19 team have been in camp since May this year while the U-15 will kick-off with the visit of the officials, adding that he is very pleased with the quality of players assembled by the coaching crew.

‎Mr Aboro further hinted that the FC Barcelona officials’ return to the State was to meet with officials of the Prosperity Cup; observe the players in training as well as during real match situation, and hold technical sessions with the coaches, pointing out that he is pleased that the facilities on ground are top notch, which shows the level of seriousness and commitment on the part of organizers of the Prosperity Cup.

‎It added that Bayelsa Starlets Academy will participate in the N-Youth League with Starlets kick-starting their campaign in the N-Youth League away to Supreme Kings FA on the 13th of October, 2026 before returning home to face PSMA Pepperest on the 20th of October, at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.
