The President and CEO of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, Prof. Justin Green, has said Nigeria does not need to struggle to convince the world of its greatness, noting that the country’s achievements and potential are already widely recognised.
Green made the remarks in Abuja on Sunday at a dinner hosted in his honour by the Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, during his visit to Nigeria to assess preparations for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF).
The WPRF, which Nigeria will host in November, is expected to attract more than 3,000 policymakers, business leaders, academics, students and communication professionals from 163 countries.
Green described Nigeria as a country blessed with rich mineral resources and highly talented people, while highlighting the resilience, creativity and hard work of Nigerians across different sectors of the global economy.
“There is no need for people to be under the illusion that Africa and Nigeria should be telling their story. The world is watching Africa. Nigeria has told the world what it can do,” he said.
He added that Nigerians should be proud of their country and the contributions of its people, stressing that Nigeria’s reputation is already shaped by the achievements of its citizens around the world.
The Global Alliance president also noted that Nigeria did not simply receive the opportunity to host the 2026 WPRF, but competed with other countries and emerged successful.
According to him, the event will mark the first time the World Public Relations Forum is coming to West Africa since the establishment of the Global Alliance 25 years ago.
He expressed optimism that the participation of major international institutions, including the World Bank, United Nations, African Union, European Commission, Interpol and the World Customs Organisation, would place Nigeria at the centre of global attention during the forum.
Earlier, the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to delivering what he described as a memorable WPRF.
Neliaku also commended Green for strengthening Africa’s representation in the global communication community, particularly through efforts to ensure greater participation of African professionals on the Global Alliance Board.
