…Hail Judgement as a Victory for Bayelsa
The Central Organizing Committee of the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, Prosperity Cup, has extended heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri, and His Excellency, Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, on their decisive victory at the Supreme Court.
In a statement released on Friday by Mr. Ono K. Akpe, Director General of the Prosperity Cup, the committee expressed that the verdict was a long-awaited confirmation of the Governor’s rightful victory in the November 16, 2023, election. Mr. Akpe emphasized that Governor Diri’s overwhelming support from Bayelsans was evident at the polls and subsequently upheld by both the Tribunal and Appeal Courts, making the Supreme Court’s judgment unsurprising but deeply gratifying.
“This victory is not just for Governor Diri and Deputy Governor Ewhrudjakpo but for all Bayelsans,” the statement noted. “The people of Bayelsa have shown their confidence and comfort in their leadership, particularly in the area of sports, where the Governor’s initiatives have significantly elevated the personal aspirations and status of our youths.”
The statement further praised the Governor and Deputy Governor for their unwavering commitment to the state’s development, particularly through their patronage of the Prosperity Cup, which has become a symbol of unity, progress, and prosperity in Bayelsa.
