APC Professionals Council has dismissed the call for the sack Dr. Umar Ganduje as the national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), saying the call is needless.
The council was reacting to a press conference on Sunday held by youth members of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State where it called for removal of Ganduje from office over the loss of Kano to opposition in the March 18, 2023 governorship polls.
In a release on Sunday by the National Deputy Director General (North) of APC Professionals Council, Hon. Abba Rabeeu, it says the call is ill-willed, premature and in bad faith, urging all members of the party to ignore the call.
The council noted that since assumption of office August last year, Ganduje has continued to rejuvenate the party through aggressive membership drive and attraction of high profile politicians into the fold of the party.
According to Rabeeu, “We find it both mischievous and laughable that individuals who claim to be royal members of our great party, the APC are calling for the removal of the performing national chairman.
“It came to us as a shock because no one removes a winning and productive team. In the past six months when he came on board, His Excellency Dr. Umar Ganduje demonstrated good mastery of the job assigned to him.
“As a former governor, he wields an enviable administrative dexterity, having held sway in one of the politically and economically complex states in Nigeria — Kano State.
“His Excellency, Dr. Ganduje has shown political sagacity within a short while, having secured more states for our party in the recent off-season elections.
“The party under him is more solid, united and formidable especially as we prepare for more states and National Assembly elections this year. He has broken the barrier of fractionalisation across the states, reconciled aggrieved parties and fostered unity like never before.
“We are not oblivious of the fact that the faceless individuals calling for his sack are being sponsored by the opposition to causes needless disharmony in our great party and we must not allow the fifth columnists to succeed”, he said.
He called on President Bola Tinubu to ignore the call, saying it is the ranting of anti-party forces bent on stoking tension.
