Group, Value System Initiative Takes Succour To Abuja IDPs

In the spirit of the yuletide, a non-governmental organisation with core focus in advancing civic engagement, humanitarian outreach, youth and women empowerment, Value System Initiative (VSI) has identified with internally displaced persons in Abuja and brought smile on their faces.

The group founded by a fintech expert Mr. John ‘Freeman’ Ondoma had at the weekend visited IDP camp in new Kuchingoro area of the nation’s capital and doled out relief materials and other gift items.

This is a follow up to a similar exercise in March this year as part of activities to mark Mr. Ondoma’s birthday.

Speaking with reporters shortly after the exercise, Ondoma who is the chairman of Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Abuja, said the exercise is also in the spirit of the season, Christmas which he said is a period to demonstrate love, brotherliness, selflessness and patriotism.

Ondoma urged the IDPs to keep hope alive despite the plethora of challenges that have befallen them, displacing them from their ancestral homes in various parts of the North East as a result of the insurgency in the region.

“Inspite of the challenges and hardship in town, they should not give up hope. Most importantly, they must not relent in efforts to engage in their civic responsibilities to our great country.

“They should be part of the upcoming election in our country as we decide the next crop of leaders in the country come 2023. They have rights and privileges just like all citizens, and therefore should deploy such right in deciding our leadership” he said.

He urged Nigerians to use the opportunity of this festive period to offer prayers for the peace and unity of the country especially as the 2023 general elections approach.

He said Value System Initiative (VSI) will continue to support efforts to alleviate the sufferings of vulnerable persons in the society.
