Christians Urged To Put Trust In God As 106-Year-Old Margaret Imudu Is Laid To Rest In Abia

Christians have been tasked to put their trust in God as the ultimate life solution and one who is capable of bringing calm in times of troubles.

This is the view of Evangelist B.O Akokwu of Church of Christ Ndoki Road Aba during the burial of late Mrs. Margaret Maggi Imudu in Akpaa Mbato, Obingwa local government area of Abia State.

Late Mrs. Imudu passed on at the graceful age of 106.

Drawing a lesson from the life of Alexander the Great who said to have acquired a lot of wealth, influence and conquered nations, the cleric during his sermon on Friday shortly before the interment of the centenarian said despite all he stood for, Alexander the Great was brought down by the power of death at the prime age of 33.

He urged his audience to amend their ways and anchor their trust in God and not on their wealth, influence and power.

Evangelist Akokwu emphasized that just like Alexander the Great’s wealth could not save him at a period of severe health challenge which eventually led to his death, same is applicable to every being, urging that Christians should be contented with what they have as no man will depart the world with riches of the earth and the vanity therein.

Speaking from the Deuteronomy 20 vs 1, he said, “Even if you have the money, when it is time to answer your Creator, those things will be nothing. A Christian’s sufficiency is made by God and not man.

“If there is anything you are, it is coming from God. It is not coming from man, it is not coming from your power. Sometimes you look yourself to be more important than any other person, even though you may not have worked harder than many people.

“If you are anything or in any position, it is because God has allowed that to happen. Even in all these, when death comes, you cannot escape, even the greatest of warriors cannot escape. If there is a way one can escape death, at 33 Alexander the Great would have escaped.

“You listening to me at this moment, what are you doing about your life? Are you among those who think I have this, I have that, death is not for me?”

He therefore called on those in positions of authority to serve with integrity and avoid corrupt acquisition of wealth even as poverty rate grows in the country.

In his comment, first son of the deceased, Mr. Ahamefula Stanley Nwokocha Imudu said the burial is his late mother is a celebration of life, noting that at 106, she enjoyed God’s grace for a longer life.

He extolled the late Maggi as she was popularly called for living a sacrificial life and for being a bridge builder in the church and community.

The Vice President Operations of National Freight and Haulers Association of Nigeria, NFHA Mr. Ebere Nwokocha Imudu who is also one of the surviving sons of the deceased noted that his mother was an epitome of discipline, philanthropy and good Christian virtue.

The 106-year-old old Mama Margaret Maggi Imudu was a devout member of Church of Christ where she remained committed for decades till her passage.
