Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos has revealed why it chose the Abia-born philanthropist, Immigration and Travel Consultant, Chief Apollos Daniel Chukwuemeka as one of the illustrious sons of Igbo land to be honoured at this year Nnoko Ndigbo.
The community says the honour is in recognition of his achievement in Humanitarian Services which has remained unequalled and indelible in the history of Nigeria in general and Ndigbo in particular.
The 2021 Nnoko Ndigbo and iriji (new yam festival) of the community will see Chief Apollos, a renowned community leader conferred with the Award of Excellence in Humanitarian Services.
Scheduled to take place on October 23, 2021, National Theatre Iganmu Lagos has been chosen as venue of this epoch-making event.
A letter of invitation addressed to Chief Apollos, popularly known as Onwa British, dated 29th September, 2021 and jointly signed by the President General of the community, Chief Sir Cyril Sunday Eze, Chairman Organizing Committee, High Chief Jude Tony Ejeagha and Secretary Organizing Committee, Barr. Chinwe Nnedum partly reads, “Your achievement in Humanitarian Services remains unequalled and indelible in the history of Nigeria in general and Ndigbo in particular.
“Your kind response to this Nnoko Ndigbo/Iriji (New Yam) Festival will be highly appreciated by the community.”
This is not the first time the Senior civil servant and General Manager Ecomms Services will be recognised for bringing succour to the weak and downtrodden.
In 2020, he was also honoured by Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos.
Onwah British is a worker with Foreign and Common Wealth Office (In the heart of visa section of the Her Majesty Services in Nigeria for many years)
He belongs to various Igbo socio-cultural organisations, including Igbo Progressive Union Lagos Nigeria where he is the President
He is also the First Vice Chairman, Abia Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Ijede Lagos state chapter, member Igbo Community Lagos state, Executive member Igbo General Assembly Lagos and many more.
