Tinubu-Ambode Support Group Commends INEC, Urges Stakeholders Support in Ongoing Voters Registration

In a proactive move to bolster democratic participation ahead of the 2027 elections, the Tinubu-Ambo Support Group has lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its clear and ambitious timeline for the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. The group not only praised the commission’s efforts but also called on stakeholders to rally support in driving voter registration across Nigeria’s Southwest.

It could be recalled that INEC had set the closing date for the year-long CVR on 30 August 2026, following the launch of its online portal on 18 August 2025 and the commencement of physical registration nationwide shortly thereafter .

National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Sam Olumekun, revealed that over 1.37 million Nigerians pre-registered online within the first week—showcasing the enthusiasm of young people, students, and persons with disabilities in participating in the electoral process .

During a southwest-focused sensitization campaign, the Tinubu/Ambode Support Group emerged as a key mobilizing force. They praised INEC’s efficient planning and urged citizens to avoid last-minute congestion, reminding Nigerians that the exercise spans a full year—ending on 30 August 2026 .

Beyond commendation, the group launched a volunteer portal aimed at empowering citizens to become active agents in voter registration outreach. The initiative is structured to deploy “PVC enlightenment street captains” across communities, facilitating new registrations, updates, and PVC collection efforts . Seyi Bamgbade, Director-General of the group, emphasized the civic significance of the campaign, framing it as a mission extending beyond partisan politics.

Recognizing the vast ground to cover, the Tinubu/Ambode Support Group has called on stakeholders—including community leaders, youth networks, civic organizations, and media outlets—to partner in the mobilization drive. By boosting awareness, facilitating access, and encouraging timely registration, they aim to ensure widespread participation and seamless execution across the Southwest.

This call to action aligns with the group’s broader vision: sustaining President Tinubu’s mandate and supporting Akinwunmi Ambode’s political ambitions within the context of democratic engagement and civic responsibility .
