Ahead of the Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections, the APC National Special Intervention Committee set up to ensure the success of all APC candidates in Lagos, including the governorship flag bearer, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday held a town hall meeting with an appeal for all residents to come out in their large numbers and vote.
Governor Sanwo-Olu is seeking re-election for another four-year term to terminate in 2027. He was sworn-in as the number one Lagos indigene in 2019.
At the town hall meeting which took place at Lagos Island, Ajeromi Local Governments, the chairman of the Special Intervention Committee and Minister of Science and Technology, Sen. Olorunnimbe Mamora praised Lagos residents for remaining resilient and calm despite the lingering cash crunch in the state and across the country.
Represented by the committee secretary, Hon. Kayode Bawa-Allah, the Minister urged the residents to reward the good works of Sanwo-Olu in the state since assumption of office by renewing his mandate on March 18.
He said, “You will agree with me that His Excellency governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has meaningfully impacted the lives of Lagosians since 2019.
“The state’s economy has steadily received a boost, lubricating the livelihoods of the people and improving their living standards. Millions of Lagos residents have been lifted from poverty to prosperity as a result of his visionary leadership.
“The infrastructural renewal is such that everyone is proud of, from roads to modern transportation means, social amenities, security, orderliness and rapid development of the mega city are all testimonies we are proud of under Sanwo-Olu”, he said.
He therefore urged residents to help in ensuring continuity of good governance by re-electing Gov. Sanwo-Olu as well as voting the candidates of APC House of Assembly candidates on Saturday.
Also briefing journalists, the sub-committee chairman on Media and Publicity, Amb. Seyi Bamigbade expressed satisfaction with the large turn out of participants at the town hall meeting, stating that it is a clear indication that victory is sure for the APC.
He said Lagos is too critical to Nigeria’s development as most populous state of the federation and one of the top six most economically viable cities in the world to be left in the hand of an inexperienced governor, seeking the support of everyone to ensure a fresh term for the incumbent Gov. Sanwo-Olu.
Other members of the committee also spoke in support of Sanwo-Olu’s re-election bid including Rt. AIG Hakeem Odumosu, chairman of security sub-committee, Hon. Ademola Adetounbo represent chairman and others.
A chieftain of APC, Arch. Kabiru Abdullahi, also mobilized hundreds of Muslim faithful from various organizations to the meeting in support of Sanwo-Olu’s re-election.
