ANAN FCT 1 Chairman, Wahab Omoniyi Bags ‘Icon Of Societal Transformation’ Award

In recognition of his valuable commitment towards education and humanity, Arewa Female Students Association, AFSA has conferred on Wahab Shina Omoniyi, the FCT 1 Chapter of Association National Accountants of Nigeria, ANAN with the honour of ‘Icon Of Societal Transformation’.

This is even as the student body extolled his passion towards the development of women, equal opportunity and societal transformation.

Leading a delegation of the students to his office on Tuesday, the chairperson of Arewa Female Students Association, AFSA Abubakar Asiya commended Mr. Omoniyi for exhibiting outstanding leadership in the past one year since he has been on the saddle of leadership as chairman of ANAN FCT 1 branch.

Describing him as an achiever and amicable leader, Abubakar stressed that AFSA has keenly observed the chairman’s track record which has earned him the honour exclusively reserved for those who have remained outstanding in humanitarian service.

“Sir, our organization do carefully observe your track record especially in the areas of educational upliftment, peace promotion, women development, societal transformation, job opportunities and your indefatigable, untiring, unflagging and tireless service to build the nation” it says.

AFSA which says one of its cardinal objectives is to create a conducive community in which every girl child can have access to education and to live a good, healthy life added that says it organises workshops, seminars, and symposium that highlight the importance of female education in the society.

In his response, the award recipient, Mr. Wahab Shina Omoniyi expressed gratitude to the female students for finding him deserving of the award.

He expressed delight that the modest efforts the association in general and FCT 1 chapter in particular is making in the development of the society is being noticed and appreciated.

Mr. Omoniyi who was flanked by members of his executive expressed gratitude over the recognition, especially coming from women who he said wield so much talent, skills and technical know-how that will be of immense value in helping the country out of its challenges.

“Women play plethora of roles across board. They are nurses, caregivers, first aid responders at their homes. They are the ones closest to the children and because of this, it is easy for one to adduce that their capacity to contribute to national development manifestly seen on how impactful they have been on the children.

“If you don’t allow women to fill that vacuum, it affects the society at large. That is one reason I am happier that this award is coming from the women fold” he said.

While encouraging them to continue demonstrating leadership in character and in learning at their various institutions of learning, he urged them to remain focused and not to be distracted, urging that their life goal should be of utmost paramount to them.

Since his massive victory to the office of the FCT 1 Chapter of ANAN, Mr. Omoniyi has made skills development and capacity building of members his key focus.

This is in addition to the continuation and expansion of the existing corporate social responsibility programmes of the branch.

This among other things includes increase in the number of indigent pupils of FCT in the scholarship scheme of the branch.

Under this arrangement, the branch apart from paying for their tuition also provides them with uniforms, sandals, schools bags, others.

Plans are also at top gear with PTA for the branch to commence a project in one of the public schools in FCT.

As an advocate of visionary leadership, Mr. Omoniyi has also ensured that there is adequate representation of student population in each of the activities and programmes the branch embarks upon as a matter of deliberate effort to raise next generation of leaders.

Under his leadership, senior citizens in the branch now enjoys a discounted subscription payment.

The branch as recently attested to by the President and Chairman of Council ANAN, Prof. Benjamin Osisioma is one of the most peaceful branches across the country.
