The Federal Government of Nigeria plan to put thousands of houses for sale to tackle housing issue across Nigeria. Each unit cost NGN2 million according to the government, and the apartment can be paid for gradually by individuals until full payment is reached.
Nigeria’s population explosion has caused housing deficits across the country, increasing the number of individuals or families without houses to live in. The government plans to tackle the issue with the National Social Housing Programme (NSHP).
Most available housing units in Nigeria are costly, especially in Lagos, where most new buildings are taking up space in highbrow areas like Lekki and other locations on the Island within the state. The government-funded units are expected to be affordable for lower and middle class families.
According to a recent statement released, “The National Social Housing Programme (NSHP) will allow you own a home, as an individual or part of a cooperative with as low as NGN2,000,000 only. With the NSHP, you can become a homeowner in any part of Nigeria easily!
“The National Social Housing Programme (NSHP) is the housing component of the President @MBuhari’s Economic Sustainability Plan to deliver affordable housing and millions of jobs for Nigerians.”
Equity News gathered that; 2-Rooms (1 Bedroom House) go for NGN2 million, 3-Rooms (2 Bedroom House) for NGN2,750 million, 4-Rooms (3 Bedroom House) for NGN3.5 million.
