The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has commended the media for its partnership and support for the Institute’s programmes and activities.
President, Chairman of Council, NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, gave the commendation on Tuesday in Abuja at a dinner for members of the fourth estate where he assured the Institute’s willingness to continuously provide platforms for mutually beneficial partnerships and create opportunities for NIPR members in the media space to be better equipped for greater value.
He said that even after retirement from the newsroom, NIPR membership gives journalists opportunity to offer services in various fields of public relations in Nigeria and over 100 other countries of the globe who are members of Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, the umbrella body of public relations in organisations worldwide, urging them to be part of efforts to build the nation’s reputation.
Responding to an appeal, Dr. Neliaku also approved a professional training for members of the media covering the Institute’s activities as a way of assisting them perform their duties more effectively.
Dr. Neliaku while stressing that Nigeria is dealing with leadership challenges, urged citizens to amplify the several positive stories emanating from the country as against giving prominence to the negatives that undermine our image in the eyes of the global community.
He urged Nigerians to shun divisive tendencies and work as one entity to build the nation as a model of peaceful co-existence, freedom and prosperity.
The NIPR boss also seized the moment to reel out some of the robust activities the Institute has put in place for the coming year, including: the January unveiling of the first Nigeria Perception Reputation Survey Report, Nigerian Reputation Summit and maiden NIPR PRICE Awards.
Others are: NIPR International Women’s Day, Youth Fire Side Chat with French Ambassador, 3rd NPRWeek in Kaduna, 3rd Nigeria Spokespersons Summit, Legacy Lecture Series, Inauguration of NIPR National Secretariat, World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) among others, urging for the support of every stakeholder.
In attendance at the dinner include top executives of media organisations, NIPR Governing Council Members and senior members of the Institute.
