Daudu Olurotimi Williams Foundation has commended the Hon. Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo for impressive start of the ministerial assignments.
The Director General of the Foundation, Barrister Williams made the remark at the open letter written to the Hon. Minister of Interior. The DG vehemently expressed that the Hon. Minister’s capacity to leverage and deployment of his wide network, connections and goodwill for the benefit of the masses remains an abiding lesson in leadership.
The message reads:
“Good morning, Hon. Minister. I believe my message will meet you well this morning.
“I have watched with more than a passing interest your activities since you assumed duty as the Hon Federal Minister of Interior and I have found it compelling to write this commendation note to you. I am persuaded to do this because of your unusual flying start to your new assignment.
“I have always been impressed by your track record as an achiever and someone driven by passion, patriotic zeal and youthful energy. Your legacies as our representative at the House of Reps in the preceding four (4) years are quite revealing. You literally broke new grounds and made your mark in almost every area of human endeavor; be it road construction and rehabilitation, education, provision of water, supply of electricity/power infrastructure, trade and commerce and sundry community development initiatives including employment for the youth. It is needless to say it was a first of its kind in the annals of our federal constituency.
“Your capacity to leverage on, and deploy your wide network, connections and goodwill for the benefit of the masses remains an abiding lesson in leadership.
“Your high performance level coupled with your high level of sophistication, humility, hardwork, competence, contributions to governance and party politics and unbidden leadership qualities without a doubt enhanced your most recent appointment as a Federal Minister. It is to our collective delight!
“I watched the interview session you had on TVC a few days ago. It was this remarkable encounter or interface with men of the press that compelled me to drop these few, oh, did I say, few lines? I was (and even your interviewers also) were amazed at your incredible understanding of the issues at stake in all the agencies under your watch. After a little over two (2) weeks in charge, you spoke like a seasoned administrator or bureaucrat with years of hands on experience in the affairs of those agencies: from Immigration, to NIMC, to Correctional Centers, to Fire Services and Civil Defence. It was such a thrilling and illuminating sessions with some of the nation’s finest journalists. The way and manner you demonstrated deep understanding of the real issues was thoroughly disarming and mind-blowing. I, and some people with me sat glued to the television set and could not entertain any form of distraction.
“It was not just your mastery of the issues that was compelling, but also the fluidity of your narrations oiled in charming oratory prowess cum fluency.
“It was also about the fact that you did not just talk about the problems, but you outlined practical solutions and panacea to the challenges. What is more, unlike many, you gave timelines. By this singular leadership style, you have taken yourself to the front seat in the comity of federal ministers.
“The truth about this is that Nigerians across the divides in our country are now paying attention an emerging national leader. Nigerians love leaders with proven capacity to resolve entrenched problems. Those who are resourceful enough to turn around things, and change ugly narratives to inspiring ones. That is what you have demonstrated, Honourable Minister. It is often said that a golden fish has no hiding place. We thank Mr. President for giving you this platform to demonstrate not just to Nigerians, but the whole world what you can do. And by this stroke of ascendancy in your leadership trajectory, you have earned yourself a place in the nation’s firmament occupied by foremost leaders.
“Given your resourcefulness, dynamism, uncommon humility, passion, patriotism, industry, knowledge, passion and desire to learn and acquire knowledge (because that is one thing I have discovered about you), capacity and competence, things can only get better for you and for Nigerians.
“For those of us from Ondo State, we thirst for the appointed time when you be in charge of our affairs. I can tell you for free that time is not too distant. So get prepared.
“Finally, I urge you to keep your eyes on the ball. I am sure that even our dear Mr. President and his Chief of Staff will be happy they unearthed a rare gem, a diamond.
“Thank you, Hon. Minister.”
