At least 19 House of Assembly aspirants in Lagos who took the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to court have dumped the umbrella party and declared support for All Progressives Congress (APC).
This defection is a massive boost to the re-election bid of the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu who is seeking a second term on the platform of APC.
Speaking on behalf of the decamping PDP members on Friday, Hon. Oluwaseun Mcdele from Ojo LGA said they are happy with the developmental strides of Sanwo-Olu in the past four years in Lagos, a statement by the media and publicity sub-committee chairman of APC National Special intervention Committee, Amb. Seyi Bamigbade said.
According to the statement, Hon. Mcdele said the APC government has demonstrated capacity and willingness to raise the bar of development and serve the people diligent, expressing the support of the PDP chieftains to work for the re-election of Sanwo-Olu as well as all House of Assembly candidates on the platform of APC.
The statement added, “Receiving the decampees, Hon. Kolade Alabi, the chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Lagos State chapter expressed gratitude to the PDP members for seeing the light in Lagos and decided to identify with it.
“Also speaking, the Secretary APC National Special intervention Committee, Hon. Kayode Bawa-Allah said the party will treat the decamping PDP members equally and ensure their inclusion if the governor is re-elected.”
