-urges President Buhari, Gov Makinde to immortalize the late Oba Adeyemi
The Professional Council of the All Progressives Congress has mourned the passage of one of the foremost traditional rulers, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III who passed on Friday at the age of 83 years.
The support group while commiserating with the kith and kin of the entire Oyo empire, the good people of Oyo State, Nigeria, and Africa in general over the demise of the iroko, stated that the departure of the revered monarch has created a big vacuum in the traditional institution in Oyo State in particular and Yoruba land in general.
In a statement signed by the group Director-General, Amb Seyi Bamgbade, and published by the National Publicity Secretary, Fatai Abiodun, described late Oba Adeyemi as a unifier, courageous who sacrificed everything in his domain to the peace of Oyo and Nigeria in general.
Amb. Seyi Bamgbade noted that the deceased was a distinguished first-class Oba, who brought dignity, respect, and glamour to the traditional institution and made it relevant in the quest for a better society.
He said the late Kabiyesi was endowed with the knowledge of the history and culture of the Yoruba race as the longest traditional ruler with 52 years on the throne served the interest of all, irrespective of religious, gender, or ethnic affiliation.
While praying to Allah to grant the deceased Aljanah Firdaous and give all he left behind the grace and fortitude to bear the loss, the professional council urged the Federal Government led by President Muhammad Buhari and Oyo State Government, Engr. Seyi Makinde to immortalize the late Oba Adeyemi.
