Senator Representing Bayelsa West Senatorial District, Senator Seriake Dickson has pledged to improve on his best service to the people of the state and the country stating that Bayelsa West Senatorial District is the safest senatorial seat for PDP in Nigeria.
Senator Dickson who is also the former governor of Bayelsa State disclosed this while formerly responding to the clarion call made by PDP stalwarts from his Senatorial District to contest the Bayelsa West Senatorial seat in the National Assembly come 2023.
Recall that earlier, Leaders and Stakeholders from Ekeremor and Sagbama LGAs had stormed PDP Secretariat in Abuja to obtain the Senatorial nomination form for the unanimous adoption of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson as their sole Senatorial candidate for the 2023 Senatorial election.
While accepting the offer, Senator Dickson noted that this was a very commendable effort and an act of love to see members of the party come together to donate hard earned resources in these austere times in the country to purchase the party Senatorial nomination and expression of interest forms for him to run for the upcoming election.
He stressed that this laudable efforts by the members will not go unrecognised as he prayed to God to replenish their pockets and continue to unite all members.
‘‘It is not every day that you see leaders, youth, women, everyone putting themselves together to make free will donations from their pockets to support the candidature of an elected official. This is very humbling to say the least, so I cannot thank you enough’’. He said.
He thanked Governor Doye Diri and Lawrence Erudjakpo the deputy governor who are also from Bayelsa West and the cocus of PDP members from Sagbama ekeremor Senatorial District for their support and solidarity for the party over the years and also believing in him to continue representing them faithfully at the NASS.
However, the senator restated that his administration is in the forefront of upholding the principles of accountability, transparency and consultation adding that no doubt his experience will play a significant role to guide, support and move forward the ijaw Nation and the country at large.
Earlier, Dr Peter Singabele, leader of the delegation while presenting him with the forms said the former governor has only stayed two years in office as a Senator and has given quality representation which has made tremendous impact not for his Senatorial District alone but to Bayelsans, the Niger Delta region and Nigerian as a whole and therefore need to complete the good works he has started hence the purchase of the form.
Also speaking with our correspondent on the side lines was High Chief Victor Okubonanabo Executive Secretary SUBEB and Chief Suru Oyarede former permanent Secretary in their separate remarks said it is a day of fulfilment based on the fact that the desires of the people of Bayelsa West to have effective representation in the Senate has been answered by the former governor’s acceptance to run.
Ekeremor LGA Chairman and his deputy Randy Awolowo and their Sagbama counterpart added that been at the forefront of the call goes to shows that it is not all about politics but leadership style of Sen Dickson that has endowed his constituents to call for his continuity in office as Senator, adding that a good leader is tested by his popularity in a political environment and Senator Dickson already has the grassroot and is sure to win both the primaries and the main election come 2023.
Deputy speaker of the state House of assembly Mike Ogbere led the delegation to Wadata House to pick the form.
Other top government functionaries present were Tuesday Kemagbeya former speaker Rivers State House of assembly, Obosi Churchill Commissioner Bayelsa West, Godbless Oyinke representing Constituency 1 in the Bayelsa State House of assembly, Tolu Amatu Chairman Enviromental Sanitation office, Sinkumo Ekise Commissioner for special projects, Alex Teisufa ,Chief of staff to the deputy governor , Luke Godday Special Technical Adviser to Governor Diri and Ofurumapepe coordinators and vigilante groups amongst others.
