The place of women in any endeavour cannot be over-emphasized and given their enormous contributions to socio-economic development, there can be no meaningful advancement where women are excluded.
This year’s celebration of International Women’s day signifies many things to the advancement of women and gender equality in Nigeria. The women used the avenue to raise awareness of their agitation and demand for more women participation in governance.
In Ondo State the story is not different as the office of the first lady on the auspicious celebration of the International Women’s day tagged Break the Bias, Her Excellency, Arabinrin Betty Anyawu Akeredolu, conferred awards on notable women in the state who have distinguished themselves to the growth of the state and nation at large morally, professionally and economically.
One of the recipients of the historic award is the CEO of Mitelo Integrated Farms, Dr. Adefunmilola Williams-Daudu who bagged award as Female Trailblazer in Integrated Agriculture in Ondo State for promoting agriculture as new ‘oil’ for the populace and reducing unemployment among the teeming youths through the food production provision and agricultural training.
Mitelo Integrated Farms is situated at Ogbese in Akure North Local Government Area of the state. Recently, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Aribo Olayato on an inspection tour of the farm wowed with the seriousness of the farm owner to make life easy for the people on food production and assured of the state government partnership on the training of youths and farmers through capacity building for better knowledge on different segments of agriculture.
To many, the conferment of the trailblazer award is another testament and affirmation of her determination to contribute her quota to the state and nation at large using the instrumentality of agriculture in addition to her awesome sacrifice for the provision of medical support to the downtrodden in the society.
For Dr. Funmilayo Williams-Daudu, her love for the less privileged in society is unequaled, and her heart of gold coupled with a willingness to help those in need makes her a living legend, amazon, and Icon all combined.
