Rescheduled FG, ASUU meeting postponed indefinitely

A meeting between the Federal Government and executive of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, scheduled for 3 pm today, Wednesday, December 9, has been postponed indefinitely.

The meeting which was expected to receive a possible resumption date from ASUU has no new date to reconvene, which may have further dashed any hope of the institutions reopening this year.

A statement by the Deputy Director, Press, Ministry of Labour, Charles Akpan, said “…The Meeting between ASUU and the Federal Government earlier scheduled for today, December 9, 2020, by 3 pm has been postponed…”

When contacted for more insight on why the meeting was called off, the ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said “… I do not know any other reasons, but I know ASUU is still consulting with its members across the country on the latest government’s offer…”

The Federal Government had raised the hope of students last week when it was sure ASUU was going to suspend its action after it increased to N70 Billion monies for Earned Allowance and University Revitalisation Fund.
