Reps Committee Chairman, Tunji-Ojo Recuses Self From NDDC Probe Hearing

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has recused himself from the ongoing investigation of the commission.

This comes after the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the NDDC led by the acting Managing Director, Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei, insisted that it will not participate in the public hearing due to Tunji-Bello’s involvement.

The NDDC had last week stated that Tunji-Ojo had also been accused of “crime” against the commission and, therefore, could not be deemed an impartial arbiter in the investigative hearing.

Thomas Ereyi-Tobi,  Deputy Chairman of the House Committee, has subsequently been asked to preside over the hearing.

The House is investigating the alleged expenditure of N81.5 billion in five months and other allegations against the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the NDDC.
