The Governorship Campaign Council of the Kogi state All Progressives Congress (APC) says it is confident of Governor Yahaya Bello’s success in the forthcoming election in the state.
Kingsley Fanwo who is the chairman of the media and publicity of the campaign council stated this at the weekend in Lokoja, The Nation reports
. According to Fanwo, the APC has increased support of the people of the state and key personalities which would aid the governor’s bid for re-election.
He boasted that only Governor Bello can defeat himself in the November 16 governorship election, adding that the coming back of Hon. James Abiodun Faleke and the asiprants who contested agains Governor Bello during the primaries has massively boosted the APC’s chances.
Fanwo mocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that the opposition party has lost its leaders and thousands of members to APC.
He said the PDP has also lost its only senator, Dino Melaye, adding that Senator Smart Adeyemi would soon replace him at the Senate. Recall that Melaye’s election as the senator of Kogi West was on Friday, October 11, nullified by the Court of Appeal in Abuja. Fanwo said Governor Bello has improved the state by building more infrastructures, educational facilities, health institutions, etc.
He urged the party’s supporters to engage in a peaceful campaign just as he urged opposition parties to sign up to our Peaceful Election Initiative.
Equity news previously reported that the Kogi PDP said the APC was already jittery over massive support for its standard-bearer, Musa Wada. The party said this on Monday, October 7, by the director-general of Wada/Aro governorship campaign organisation, Tajudeen Yusuf, in a statement he made available to newsmen.
